About Maddy And This Blog

Greetings fellow fans of classic era films and television. My name is Madeleine(but you can call me Maddy). I’m in my thirties and live in England. I fell in love with the classics at an early age and will love them until I draw my last breath. You can read about how I discovered classic era films in this article here.

I’m looking forward to slowly returning to the blogging community. I had to give up blogging a few years ago due to severe illness. I’m still extremely poorly but I feel like I now want to try and write a bit again whenever I feel up to it.

I’m a huge fan of Film Noir, the films of Alfred Hitchcock, 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s British films. I love Japanese and Indian cinema, especially the films of Kenji Mizoguchi, Akira Kurosawa and Satyajit Ray. I love the James Bond film series and Timothy Dalton is my favourite 007 – I do like each Bond actor and think they’ve all brought something unique and special to the role.

Some of my favourite TV series include Callan, The Twilight Zone, Outlander, The Avengers, Kojak, The Wire, Mad Men, Fringe, The Rockford Files, The Bridge(2011-2018),Upstairs,Downstairs, Columbo, Perry Mason, MASH, Sapphire And Steel, Blake’s 7, All Creatures Great And Small, Doctor Who, Star Trek, The Jewel In The Crown, The Duchess Of Duke Street, Secret Army,The Omega Factor, Timeless, Prime Suspect, Cadfael, Twin Peaks.

One of my favourite actors is George Sanders. Nobody played the charming cad quite like he did. I especially love it when he got to play the hero in films such as Foreign Correspondent and The Saint and Falcon film series.

George Sanders keeping it casual.

Another favourite of mine is the fabulous Jeremy Brett. He means such a lot to me personally because I’ve taken(and continue to do so) strength from his brave battles with his physical and mental health. A phenomenal actor and a lovely man. For me he is the definitive screen Sherlock Holmes.

  1. Glad I came across your blog. I signed up and look forward to following it.
As for your list of favorite actors. I wouldn’t subtract any of them. and would add Peter Lorre, Fredric March, Beulah Bondi, Fred MacMurray, Wendy Hiller, Jack Lemon, Barbara Stanwyck, and probably a dozen or so more.
